Volunteering with Sisterhood

In 2023, more than 37 volunteers of seven different nationalities ran our online and offline programs as teachers, trainers, facilitators and program advisors. We are united through our shared experiences as women and come together in support of one another.

English Language Department

Rizka

"I combined my passions for teaching, communication & languages, when I offered to help Sisterhood set up its English department. The classes are helping women refugees acquire the linguistic skills necessary to navigate life in their host and destination countries. It has given me an unparalleled sense of fulfilment.

Sewing & Tailoring

Nasima

"Originally from Afghanistan, I'm a mother, a wife, and a sister who helps her other sisters who live in Indonesia in limbo. Sisterhood supported me & my abilities by encouraging me to volunteer. This journey allowed me to support myself and inspired me to share my skills with others."

SGBV, SRHR and Women's Rights

Isabel

"I spent some time volunteering in Indonesia through an Australian Government scholarship, including supporting Sisterhood with training and creating resources on sexual and gender-based violence. Volunteering is not only so personally rewarding but also sustains grassroots movements."

English Teacher

Payal

"I volunteered with Sisterhood as an English teacher for several years but my teachings and interactions did not stay limited to the English subject. In the process, I learned many life lessons from my brave students, fostering a bond that is truly cherished."
